Question and Answers

Q:

My Kenmore upright freezer has an door ajar alarm that won't go off? It appears to be freezing just fine, but alarm will not reset?

A:

Thank you for your question.

I can understand how annoying the beeping sound could be.

Is there any read out in the display on the control.

Push the temp or temp down button to show what the temperature is.

There may be a connector loose for the door circuit and this could be the cause of the alarm.

If the controls do not respond push and hold the reset button for 5 seconds and then try to reset the door ajar light.

I will give you a diagnostic sequence to check out the control if you are comfortable with trying it.

If you have a lot of food in the freezer you may not feel comfortable doing this.

If you cannot resolve this issue I would suggest that you have a technician come to check out the freezer just incase. You do not want your food to thaw out.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

I hope this will help.
