Question and Answers

Q:

Any suggestions on where to find a how-to for replacing the carburetor on my model 247776350 wood chipper?

A:

There are manuals on line that give instructions for removing the carburetor. I am sending you a link to the page where you can see the information on your engine. The manuals cover several different engines and you will need to get the model number off the engine. The first 6 digits are the engine model number. The second 4 digits are the engine type number. When you pull up the page enter your engine model number in the search block at the top of the page.

Removing the carburetor is fairly easy. Remove the screws holding the carburetor to the fuel tank. You might have to loosen the bolts that hold the fuel tank in place to disconnect the carburetor from the intake manifold that attaches to the engine.

The most important thing is disconnecting the throttle and governor linkage from the carburetor. I suggest drawing a picture or taking several pictures of how the linkage connects to the carburetor so you can put it back correctly.

Q:

How do I insert the replacement spiral pin (part 715-0166) in my Craftsman chipper-shredder?

A:

To begin, line up holes in shaft with hole at flail blade. Grasp spiral pin with pliers and carefully tap into shaft with hammer. It may help to keep holes in shaft and flail blade lined up with a small nail inserted into other side.
