Question and Answers

Q:

2004 Kenmore Elite not starting.

A:

When you press the Heated Dry and Normal Wash buttons in that pattern, the control begins a short test cycle that is designed to test the components. It will reset a heater circuit fault (CLEAN light flashing 7 times and repeating). It will not fix a problem in the dishwasher other than resetting the control and running the short test cycle. This cycle is not intended for normal use to clean the dishes.

Since the control will start the diagnostic test cycle but will not start a regular cycle, you could have a problem with the heating circuit, the control or the door switch assembly. Try running a rinse only cycle or another cycle that does not heat the water. If it fills a runs one of these cycles, then the failure is likely in the heating circuit. You may need to replace the heating element in the dishwasher.

We will need the model number of the dishwasher to provide more troubleshooting for this problem. Reply with that model number and any additional details that you have. We will assist you further once we receive more information.

I circled the sticker that should have the model number in the first image below. It appears that the model number portion of that sticker is torn off. I can't tell for sure. Look on that sticker and see if you can find the model number. From your pictures, I can tell the general type of dishwasher that you have. Check the float switch in the bottom of the tub to make sure that it is not stuck in the UP position. I recommend that you SHUT OFF THE CIRCUIT BREAKER for the dishwasher and check the door switches. The second image below shows the basic procedure for accessing the door latch assembly. You will likely need to remove all of the Torx screws on the inside panel to pull off the outer panel and access the latch assembly on this model. Check the latch assembly for damage. If you have a volt/ohm meter, you can check the continuity of the switches. If you have a bad switch, this dishwasher will not start. These tips may help. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details. If you send me a clear picture of the entire console I can probably provide you with a model number that you can use for parts and further diagnosis.

Q:

craftsman reartine tiller 2004

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Based on your details, I suspect the two Shear pins may have been sheared or have fallen out. I added a link to the Owner's Manual and on page 18 it shows the shear pins and where their located.

This may be the issue. If not, please reply and I will be glad to assist you further.

Q:

I need to diagnose the drive problem in a Craftsman 247-770990 yard machine.

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the lawn vac. I will be happy to assist you with this problem. Usually when the drive does not work and you cannot move the shifter it is because the belt is off. I recommend checking the drive belt first. I posted an image below that shows how to access the drive belt. Click on the image to enlarge it. Once you have the cover off, start the engine, and engage the drive. You should see the belt tighten and turn the pulley. If it does not do this, you have to find where it is broke. The image shows how to access and check the parts.

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know what you find.

Thank you for using Manage my life. Mark.
