Question and Answers

KitchenAid range KERS507YAL4 I may need to replace the element wire for the 8" burner but I can't find the part on Sears DirectPart site.

The replacement wires for this range are not illustrated in the parts diagram. There are listed as splicing wires. They come in 25 ft. rolls. You may not need to order a whole roll of this wire if you can find the lengths of replacement wire that you need at your local hardware store.

I provided the wiring diagram for this range in the image below. You may need to use this diagram to properly connect the infinite switch.

This diagram does not show the exact size of the wires used between the infinite burner switch and the burner. If entire runs of wire need to be replaced, you can likely buy enough to replace the wiring that is bad. It appears that the wires between the infinite switch and the burners will be 14 ga. 200-C wire. You can order part number 8316784 from the Sears PartsDirect to get this type of wire if necessary. Use ceramic wire nuts if needed to splice the replacement wires into place.

You may just need new connector slides to fit the spades on the infinite switch if the wires are okay. You can buy new connector slides from your local hardware or electrical supply store. These connectors will normally crimp onto the stripped ends of the existing wires.

This information may help you replace the infinite switch and repair the range. If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
