Question and Answers

Q:

2001 Craftsman leaf blower

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the blower. I should be able to help you. The initial setting is 1 1/8 turns open. This should be enough to get the blower started. Once it is started, follow the instructions in the image below. Click on the image to enlarge it. I also recommend using fuel mix that is no older than 5 weeks old.

I hope this is helpful. If you need further assistance, please feel free to add more details.

Q:

Can my 2001 Kenmore dehumidifier model 580.51300 get low on Freon?

A:

A number of different problems besides low Freon could prevent the dehumidifier from extracting moisture from the air. Here are some issues to check:

  • Make sure that the air filter is clean. Lack of air flow through the unit will inhibit water extraction.
  • Clean the front grill to make sure that it is not blocked.
  • Check your settings. Make sure that the Dryness Control knob is set on the maximum setting.
  • If the relative humidity is low in the room that the dehumidifier is operating, it will not extract water.
  • If the ambient temperature is below 65 degrees in the room that the dehumidifier is in, the coils will normally frost up and no water will be extracted.
  • Make sure that the fan is operating properly.
If all of the issues above are okay, then you could have a compressor or Freon charge problem. A technician will need to repair any type of sealed system failure. You can normally have the dehumidifier diagnosed by taking it to a Sears Repair Center or Sears Store. The fee for diagnosis at most locations is about $35. You can receive an estimate for the repair before agreeing to have the unit fixed. A Freon charge may cost about $100 depending on the area that you are in.

Q:

How do I change the starter on my 2001 Kia Sportage?

A:

According to the KIA technicians’ reference, here is the process of replacing your starter.

  1. Remove old starter.
  2. Connect B-terminal wire.
  3. Install washer and nut on B-terminal and tighten.
  4. Connect S-terminal.
  5. Lower intake manifold bracket into position and insert the two upper bolts.
  6. Raise and support vehicle.
  7. Place starter in position.
  8. Insert the two upper starter bolts.
  9. Insert lower starter bolt. NOTE: The starter may require adjustment after installation. If required, rotate the starter slightly to provide proper clearance.
  10. Tighten the three starter bolts. Tighten the bolts to 27-40 lb-ft (37-54 N•m).
  11. Insert lower bracket bolts and tighten. Tighten the bolts to 27-40 lb-ft (37-54 N•m)
  12. Position clutch release cylinder and install bolts. Tighten the bolts to 27-40 lb-ft (37-54 N•m)
  13. Tighten the two upper intake manifold bolts. Tighten the bolts to 27-40 lb-ft (37-54 N•m)

If you require further assistance please resubmit question with more details. I will be looking forward to helping you again in the near future.
