Question and Answers

oil mixture for 2 stroke outboard motor 1975,

Thank you for your question on the proper mix for the old outboard motor.

The original manual would have told you to use a 1/4 of a pint for 1 gallon of leaded gasoline or 25:1 mix

That would equate to 4 oz of 2 cycle oil to 1 gal of gasoline. You may have to replace or clean the spark plug often with this mix being so rich.

With today’s high quality 2 cycle oil you may be able to safely use a 32:1 mix but that is up to you.

Because we no longer have leaded fuels you may want to use a gas treatment in the fuel.

Since this is a ported engine with out valves it may not be a problem.

Generator (title Sears 3500 Alternator): Model #580327221 / engine #143-716072, 8 hp. I am trying to get this generator running, there is no spark.

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the generator. Due to the age of the unit, I recommend replacing the points and condenser first. These parts are located under the flywheel. The part numbers for the parts are 33-606 and 33-008. The parts can be ordered from our parts website: Sears Parts Direct . The instructions for replacing the points should be on the package. I have also found a video that should aid in replacing the points. Click here to watch the video.

I hope this is helpful.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Thank you for using Manage my life.

how do I repair spinning agitator

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

As Joseph P. suggested in the first response; adding the model would be needed in order to know which type of agitator the washer has. Joseph added a link with instructions how to remove the type of agitator your model likely has. I also added the instruction below.

To access the agitate dogs:

  1. Pry the agitator cap off.
  2. Remove the spring retainer using the male square end of a 1/2 inch drive ratchet extension. Turn it counterclockwise to remove.
  3. Remove the spring
  4. Lift the augur up and turn it upside down while placing you hand over the top. You now have access to the agitate dogs.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post along with the model number of your washer.
