Question and Answers

Q:

What type of oil do I need to change the oil in my Craftsman 12.5 hp 6 speed, 38" deck.

A:

The model number you sent is for the engine. The model number of the mower is under the seat. The information you sent is all we need to answer your question, but if you ever need parts you need the model number of the mower.

The engine in your riding mower is 30 weight motor oil. Use a name brand good quality oil and it will be fine.

Q:

Why doesn't my Poulan , Mdl. 1950 chainsaw still fails to start?

A:

Thank you for your question on the chainsaw not starting.

Even if the brake is applied the engine should still start but not rev up.

For the engine to run you need fuel, air, spark, and compression.

It seems that we have fuel air and spark so the unknown is the compression.

Is the spark plug wet when you take is out after trying to start it?

I would suggest that you open the air box for the air filter and pour a teaspoon. If that worked and the engine at least tried to start then you may have a carburetor problem and it may need to have a cleaning and a repair kit installed.

Please let me know if that worked?

Sam A.

Q:

I just bought a Kenmore elite toaster model No. 100.90003. The cord is about 6 inches too short. What type of extension cord should I buy? i.e. amps/volts.

A:

You can use an extension cord for the toaster if the cord has 2 wires and three prong outlet and receptacle. The cord should have number 14 wire to carry the load of the toaster. Number 14 wire will carry 15 amps.
