Question and Answers

how do I tighten the drive belts? 17-925 Delta 16 1/2" variable speed drill press

Thank You for choosing Sears I regret to hear that you are having issues with your drill press and do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. Im looking at your model number 17-925 and you will need to do some disassembly and resit the belts in there place. At the top of the pulleys are clips (item 172 in the diagram) that will need to be removed, once these are  removed  there is a washer and a spring and a square key that runs down the side of the shaft(171, 170, 173). This will allow you to remove the pulley and belt. There will be another clip holding the middle pulley in place(may have a set screw on the side that will need to be loosened). Once you remove the clip and pulley there will be another clip that will be removed. You now can check the lower pulley and spring and make sure there are no damaged parts. Repeat the process for the next pulley and the pulley on the motor shaft. The pulleys have set screws on the side that will need tightening. I hope this information helps with your troubleshooting. If you have further questions please resubmit your question for further information.
Thank you for choosing Sears
