Question and Answers

Q:

5/8" arbor or gear for a craftsman miter box saw

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry that I didn't understand what you were looking for.

I will be glad to help you but I will need a model number for the saw even though you said you could not find one.

This is going to be tough because we have so many different manufactures that build miter saws for us.

Do you have any idea how old this saw is because it would narrow down the search field.

Is the gear separate from the arbor or one piece?

Please use the thread link to give me more information.

I will keep trying to solve this problem. Would it be possible to take a picture of the saw and send it to me?

Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Q:

How do I remove the arbor from the reduction gear box (gear stripped) model 315218050. I have a stator on one end and an arbor on the other.

A:

Thank you for the update. It seems like maybe the model you have may have been a similar or updated model parts list. I’m thinking that when the manufacture said that they do not repair these anymore, but just replace the motor assembly, there may have been a line run change and the motor unit is put together as an assembly and is not designed to come apart. Since the parts list does not agree with actual motor assembly you have, I am inclined to believe that it was a rolling change that affected your model. I have no proof of this, just an observation. You may need to have a press to get this gear box apart. I sorry I could not be of more help. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Q:

My tractor won't go into gear

A:

Make sure that your freewheel control is not set in the transport position.

Check your motion drive belt to make sure that it is properly installed. Here is a link for your owner's manual in case you need it: Owner's Manual .

Air in the transmission could cause this problem. Follow the steps in your manual to purge the transmission (page 18).

Debris on steering plate preventing the brake pedal shaft assembly from moving all the way back and getting proper tension on the drive belt. The image below should help you check this issue.

If these tips don't help, the tractor will likely need service by a technician. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .
