What is the correct part number for the drain valve for my water heater?

I found 2 different part #’s for the drain valve for this era water heater. Due to the age, I can't be 100% sure that either one will work. The part# 31915 and part# 31916 drain valves are both available through by clicking on Parts. I can't say what the differences would be, but the price. There is a one dollar difference in the cost between the two valves.

Due to the age of the water heater I impressed that it's still working and not leaking water all over. I recommend replacing the water heater due to safety concerns and to prevent possible property damage if it leaks.

Your local plumbing supply should have an assortment of water heater drain valves to fit your application. I would think the drain valve is a common valve probably still used today.
