Q:

Repair of ignitor on kenmore grill 148-16656010

A:

Thank you for your question on the battery igniter module for the BBQ grill.

Do you think that it is rain that is getting in or condensation from the lower temperatures at night?

You may want to try using a small rubber band to use as a seal for the button cap on the igniter.

You may have to replace the igniter with a new one to see if it will seal better so moisture will not get in to the battery compartment.

Igniter for BBQ grill model 148.16656010 .

As long as the spring will make contact with the + end of the battery when you push the button then you will have it installed correctly.

Please let me know what you find out and we can continue to troubleshoot with that information.

Thank you John for the update on the igniter. The terminals will get rusty and seize to the pin on the igniter. You will need to use a pair of needle nose pliers and get as close to the connection and possible and wiggle the connector to break it loose from the pin on the igniter. Please let me know how it went with the wire removal. Sam A.
