Q:

IDLER CARRIAGE BOLT NUMBER 146

A:

Thank you for your question on the carriage bolt for the idler pulley.

The 146 carriage bolt just goes through the idler bracket 55 and 59 and not through the deck.

The top of this bolt is where the clutch cable attaches. I do not think anything goes the hole you were referring too.

If the belt had gotten off the left spindle pulley it may have gotten in the wrong place and is over the top of the brake arm instead of under it. Please remove the pulley cover #44 to see if that is what happened.

If you have more questions please let me know and we can continue to troubleshoot with that information.

Thank you.

Q:

oriface color chart for Kenmore 79072903010

A:

That conversion should be completed by a qualified installer.

I added the instruction pages for that conversion kit 316542416 in the images below in case you need them. That 4th page shows the instructions for converting the range back to natural gas. Here is a configuration for those orifices:

  • Right Front -- 210
  • Right Rear -- 107
  • Center -- 146
  • Left Front -- 146
  • Left Rear -- 167

This should help you complete that conversion. If you need more assistance, let us know.

Q:

What type oil is used in a Craftsman rear tine tiller engine and gear box? There are 2 oil plugs.

A:

Both oil plugs are for the engine. Engines that are used in tillers are used for a number of applications. The oil plugs are placed in more than one place on the engine so if one plug is not accessible the other will be.

The engine uses 30 weight motor oil. The transmission on your tiller doesn't have oil in it. It has axle grease and never needs changing.
