Question and Answers

Q:

how to replace the tube cover 143975034 Craftsman Engine

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the mower. If you have oil coming out of the breather hose on the engine I recommend checking the oil level first. If the engine is over full of oil it will likely be pushed out the breather hose. Also if you tip the engine onto its side with the air filter down, it could leak out the breather tube. If you have not tipped the mower over and the oil level is fine, and it still blows oil out the hose I suspect the crankcase breather is defective. In order to access the breather you need to remove the flywheel. I found a great video that shows how to remove the flywheel. Click here to watch the video.Once the flywheel is removed you can pry the breather out of the crankcase. Just be careful not to damage the rubber. If you damage the rubber, you will need to order the complete breather assembly. If you do, it is not a big deal. The whole assembly cost $22.99. The part number for the assembly is 36557A and can be ordered from the following link. Breather assembly for a Craftsman engine model 143975034.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired by a Sears  technician.  Here is a link that will provide the nearest drop-off locations:  Sears Home Services.
