I can sure understand your concern as to why you need to hold the hose and handle together to get the Power Mate to work.

• The problem you are having if I understand your description correctly is that the wire connection where the hose meets the handle is not making a good connection all the time.

• There are two other connections that are possible depending on where you are putting the pressure.

• If you are just pushing down on the handle the plug in connections where the lower wand plugs into the Power Mate is one possibility. The other location is where the upper wand plugs into the hose handle assembly.

• If you are pushing on where the hose goes into the handle then it is probably is a broken wire in the hose.

• The wire coils on the hose is what carries the electricity from the vacuum canister to the handle switch and then down the wands to the Power Mate.

• If you can isolate the bad connection to be sure that you are going to be replacing the correct part.

• If it is the hose wires I will give you some pictorial instructions as to how to replace the hose assembly below.

• If it is in the handle harness plug you will need to take the handle apart and replace the handle harness.

• The handle has recessed screws that hold the handle together and one hidden screw at the back of the hand hole to hold the switch cover on.

• The wand wire harness can only be changed with a replacement lower wand.

• If the bad connection is in the Power Mate connection plug you will need to disassemble the Power Mate to replace that harness.

Since the washer finished the diagnostic test cycle the third time that you tried it, it sounds like you have an intermittent problem. Try the washer in a normal cycle with no clothes added. See if it completes the cycle. If not, reply with an indication of where it stopped in the cycle (i.e. final spin and minutes remaining).

You could have a loose wire harness connection. I recommend that you unplug the washer and check the wire harness connections between the CCU (Central Control Unit or main control board) and the user interface control board in the console. Also check the wire harness connections between the CCU and the MCU (Motor Control Unit at the bottom of the washer).

According to your details, you seem to have the tech sheet and a good understanding of the washer. With the washer unplugged , you can check the resistance through the circuits that are connected to the control board. Check the temperature sensor first. A short in the wiring or a component such as the temperature sensor to the cabinet ground could drag down the DC voltage being supplied to the user interface and this could result in the cycle interruption that you are seeing.
