Gas leak 143016714 Craftsman Engine

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the engine. If the gas is leaking out of the carburetor, the problem is with the carburetor float or the needle and seat. I posted an image below that show these parts of the carburetor. Click on the image to enlarge it. The needle and seat are in red and the float is in green. To repair this you will need to remove the float bowl and float. Once it is removed, you can place the float in a cup of water. If it floats, the float should be fine. If the float is fine, I recommend replacing the needle and seat. The part number for the needle and seat kit is 525-212 and can be ordered from the following site.Needle and seat kit for Craftsman engine model 143016714.

I found a video that shows how to replace the needle and seat in a carburetor. Click here to watch the video.

If you do not feel comfortable, repairing this you can replace the carburetor. Just be sure to pay attention to the linkage before you remove the carburetor. This is the area that causes the most problems.

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance.
