Q:

My garage door opener does not close all the way. LED blinks 5 times.Does the RPM sensor need replacing?

A:

If the RPM sensor fails the door will only move a few inches. If the door is going farther than that something else is wrong. Five blinks indicates RPM sensor, motor, or capacitor failure. Unplug the garage door opener and remove the cover. Check the interrupter cup that is attached to the motor shaft and be sure it is pushed onto the motor shaft as far as it will go.

Pull the emergency release rope on the trolley and manually open and close the door to be sure something is not wrong with the door.

If you have more questions on the opener, send another email and include more details of the problem and the results of these tests.
