Question and Answers

garage door opener 13953905DM Craftsman Garage door opener

Thank you for choosing I understand how frustrating it can be when the garage door opens by itself. Garage door openers can open without you using the remote or the wall switch because radio frequency (rf) interference. If you have another opener that you keep at home, sometimes, the logic board on the opener that is working ok will emit rf and cause the other opener to open. To determine if the rf is coming from something in the garage or house, turn the house circuit breakers off one at a time. It is not possible to leave some circuit breakers off for several days to test. If the door continues to open by itself, rf is coming from somewhere else. At that point, I would recommend contacting a technician to check the opener. Sears technicians carry a meter that will find the source of the rf signal. If you are going away for a few days, I would suggest using the lock out feature on the wall control.
You may also have a short on your opener or the wall unit. If there is a short in one of those, it will continously send a signal to the garage door opener.
If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services
