Question and Answers

Q:

universal wireless keyless entry 13953515SR Craftsman Garage door opener

A:

Hello Jane. I see that Barbara posted a link for your owner's manual on that Craftsman Garage Door Opener Model 139.53515SR.

This model appears to have the SR learn button. You can check the motor unit as shown in the image below to determine whether your garage door opener has DIP switches or that learn button.

This garage door opener does not appear to have safety sensors. Based on that information, I recommend that you replace this garage door opener with a new model. All of the new models have safety sensors. You can view new garage door openers on the Sear.com website

Q:

Craftsman garage door opener

A:

Thank you for your question.

I can understand wanting to update your garage door opener.

At one time you could add a logic board and safety sensors, but that time has long past.

Don is right you need to look at updating to a new opener.

There are many models and brands to choose from at Sears.

Here is a model that is a 1/2 horse chain drive.

I hope this will help.

Q:

With no load, my Craftsman garage opener travels 18 in. down and then reverses. Why?

A:

When you removed the worm gear you removed the small gear that drives the up and down limit switch. In the process of the repair the limit switch and the position of the trolley might have gotten out of synchronization.

You need to open or close the door and remove this small gear again. Manually turn the limit switch so the center contact almost touches the up or down contact to match the location of the trolley. Install the drive gear and adjust the up and down limits properly.
