Question and Answers

Q:

What does F4 error code indicate?

A:

The F4 error code is indicating a problem with the oven temperature sensor probe. It will need to be removed and tested with an ohm meter. It could also be an oven control board failure too causing the F4 error code.

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your range.

Q:

What does the code F-4 mean on my Kenmore oven?

A:

The "F4" fault code generally indicates an oven sensor failure. The oven sensor is part# WB21X5301. It could be the oven sensor, sensor connections or it could be the electronic oven control too.

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your oven.

Q:

Why is my range displaying "F4"?

A:

The F4 error code indicates that the oven control board detects a shorted oven temperature sensor probe or shorted sensor circuit. This could be caused by a failed temperature sensor, a melted plug or wiring connection on the probe or the wires in the temperature sensor probe circuit both being shorted to the cabinet of the range. The oven temperature sensor probe will need to be removed from the back wall inside the oven cavity and the resistance will need to be measured using an ohm meter. You should measure about 1100 ohms of resistance at room temperature when measuring the resistance across the two wire leads of the oven sensor probe. If not, then the probe will need to be replaced. The part number for this probe is WB21X5301
