Power, but no suction on 11628014700 Kenmore Canister vac

Thank you for your question on the suction motor not running.

Since you have checked the normal connections and know there is power to the unit I will asked you if you feel comfortable with taking the motor canopy off the unit then we can check the PCB motor board voltage.

Thank you for the update on the vacuum. You will need a multi-meter to do these checks. I have given you the wiring diagram below on the vacuum and you will need to check the output of the control board and the fuse to see if it is bad. The wiring diagram is in the first image, and then use the diagnostic steps 1 & 2 on the chart to check for the proper DC voltage coming out to the board for the motor. The Triac may not be gating or turning on the rest of the board to power up the motor. Please let me know what you find and we can continue diagnostics from that information. Sam A.

Thank you for the update on the canister motor problem. It is hard to check the fuse when it is in the circuit. But if it pins the needle it should be okay. If shows that this circuit is good. If most cases the problem is the triac on the power board either keeping the motor running when the vacuum is plugged in or the motor not running at all? It is a little difficult to check components will they are still connected to the wire harness. The power into the board is Blue/Red blue with 120 volts and out to the hose down to the handle control board on the black wire. We know the power is going down there because the power mate motor runs. I think if you change out the power board it will solve your problem. Trying to check the triac is not an easy thing to do successfully because you have to gate the triac. It is an electronic switch for the canister motor. I hope this will help. Please let me know what you find and we continue if you need more help. Sam A.
