Powermate powers on and off with movement

Thank you for your question.

I can understand your concern with the intermittent operation of the power mate.

If I understand you correctly when you are moving the wand and hose assembly forward it will work ok, but when you pull the wand assembly on the backward stroke it turns off.

As you explained that the light in the handle switch stays on all the time shows the power is constant at the handle.

The most likely location for the intermittent connection is at the connection on the wand where it plugs into the handle and where are plugs into the power mate. A high percentage of occurrences are at the power mate to wand connector plug.

  • If you will examine the connection contact points it may show signs of arcing and some blacking of the contacts.

  • If it does I would recommend you replace the wand with the wire harness and the power mate plug in harness at the top of the power mate that the wand plugs into.

I you would like to replace the harness in the power mate yourself please use the thread link and I will be glad to give you instructions on how to do it.

I would do the power mate harness first because the wand assembly is very expensive.

The part number for the power mate wire harness is;KC67VAXEZV06 and the part number for the wand assembly is;KC99PCPSZV06 and you can order them from;Sears Parts Direct .

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired by a Sears technician. Here is a link that will provide the nearest drop-off locations: Sears Home Services .
