Question and Answers

The beater motor on my KENMORE Vacuum, Canister Model: 11625914503 has gotten quite loud. What can be done?

Thank you for your question.

The model number of your Power-Mate 116.55914503.

  • I am not sure that the motor is the issue. It is more likely to be the beater brush bearings and the housing that holds it.

  • I would suggest that you take the roller brush assembly apart.

  • Remove the lower wand from the Power Mate.
  • Release the lay the swivel down.
  • Remove the light lens, by using a small flat tool into the top of the lens and pop off.
  • Remove the light bulb.
  • Turn unit over and remove the two phillips head screws in the body in front of the wheels. One on each side.
  • With that same flat tool pop up from the back of the power mate cover and hinged forward and remove from front tabs.
  • Turn Power Mate back over and examine the roller brush and housing area for any melting of the plastic.
  • Remove the roller brush assembly by pulling up on the roller brush and removing it from the slots in the plastic housing, and then remove the belt.
  • At this point you can examine the motor retainer and the motor housing for any distortion of the plastic parts a see if the motor is loose in the base.
  • If it is you will need to replace the base assembly.
  • Examine the roller brush end cap bearing for debris build up and clean. DO NOT oil the end bearings once you have clean them.
  • Examine the belt for stretching and replace as needed.

Do you have instructions on how to attach a new connection pipe assembly to the hose of my Kenmore vacuum model # 11625914503?

Thank you for your question.

I can understand wanting to replace the connection pipe yourself.

To replace this connection pipe you will need to have some basic tools.

  • You will need to have two small pocket type flat blade screwdrivers to do this repair.

  • Locate on the hose elbow connection the molded seam line in the cuff and on the elbow connection.

  • Place the flat blade screwdriver in the gap between the elbow and the hose cuff and pry up under the cuff along the seam line up the hose in under the cuff for about 1 inch or until you release the locking tab.

  • Do this on both sides of the cuff at the same time.

  • Once the tabs are released, slide the cuff up the hose and out of the way.

  • This will expose the wiring harness on the connection pipe. NOTE the location of the wires and how they fit on and around the connection pipe so you can install them back exactly as they are or the cuff with not lock back onto the connection pipe.

  • Remove the push in connectors on the wire harness and then locate locking tab on the connector pipe and release it from the spiral on the hose and remove the connection pipe from the hose.

  • Install the new connector and re-connect all the wires and slide the cuff back up the connector. This will take a little working back and forth of the cuff to get it to lock onto the new pipe.

I will include a couple of pictures to help you with the repair.
