Q:

hose assembly for 1162040091? 1162040091 Kenmore Vacuum cleaner

A:

Thank you for contacting ManageMyLife.com regarding a replacement hose for your Kenmore vacuum cleaner. I know how important it is to have parts for your vacuum. I'm happy to help you today.

Unfortunately, due to the age of the unit, the hose is no longer available and the manufacturer has not issued a replacement. A suggestion I have is to check if there is a local used vacuum store or repair shop that may have replacement hoses. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have cause.

If you are looking to purchase a new vacuum, I provided a link to the modes that Sears.com has to offer.

I hope this information helps you today. Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com.

You will need to snap the top cover off. Be sure that you unplug the vacuum cleaner before accessing internal components.

You may find some discreet tabs on one of the sides of that cover. I circled the locations where you may find tabs in green on the first image below. The tabs may be on the opposite side. If you find no tabs, then you will need to carefully pry up on that cover in those locations using a flat tip screwdriver. Once you snap that top cover off, you will find screws that hold the cover on the motor compartment. Remove those screws and then you can access the motor. The second image shows the parts drawing for that area.

You can order parts from this page: Kenmore Vacuum Cleaner Model 116.2040091 Parts .

I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician check that motor, you can carry the vacuum cleaner into your nearest Sears Repair Center or Sears Store. Here is a link for the Sears Service website that has information on the nearest repair facilities in your area: Sears Home Services .

Lyle, Thanks for encouragement.. There are no tabs visible before the canopy cover is removed. A stiff putty knife seemed a better choice of tool over a flat-bladed screwdriver. Patience and attention to the corner tab first (to the right in the attached pictures) is the key to easing off this high-quality plastic canopy cover. When re-installing the canopy cover, again, start with the corner, taking note of the red positioning ear on the cover which meets up with the matching grey ear on the motor cover.
