wet dry vac-left out in the rain 113170260 Craftsman Wet/dry vac

A:

Thank you for your question on the 16 gallon Craftsman wet/dry vacuum cleaner repair.

I would suggest just replacing the whole vacuum cleaner since the motor is only a few dollars cheaper than a whole new vacuum.

Thank you for your question Peter. I think the rain got into the bearings of the motor and that is why the motor is noisy. I do not think the brushes are damaged but it is possible. The motor is not a serviceable part. I would suggest a replacement shop vacuum. I am sorry that I was not able to help you more. Sam A.

Thank you for the update Peter. You may be able to get some oil in the bearing but most of them are somewhat sealed and if they get wet then the moisture is trapped inside the bearing race and they start to rust up inside. The only thing I think you can do is try to get down to the motor in the housing and see if you can lubricate the bearings to see if that will help. Sam A.
