Question and Answers

Q:

Kenmore wacher unit style 111.

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Without having the model number of your washer I can only provide general information.

Your correct in thinking the lid is not striking the lid switch.

The lid switch is likely broken or the lid is not shutting properly and striking and closing the lid switch. On some models the hinge strikes the lid switch and on some models there is a lid strike located on the bottom edge of the lid which will protrude through a small opening in the top and strike the lid switch or lid switch actuator.

So that's what I can tell you at this point. I can give you more detailed help if you could provide me with the complete model number. The model numbers are typically located near the tub opening after opening the lid. If you could supply me with that information and add it to the thread I will be happy to assist you further.

Q:

Kenmore 80 111 24853200 won't spin

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with your washer. If the washer will drain but will not spin, I suspect the problem with the washer is a broken motor coupler. The coupler links the motor to the transmission instead of using a belt. When the coupler breaks, the washer will not agitate or spin and often will make an unusual noise. To verify the problem, I recommend starting the washer in a wash cycle. After the washer fills, check to see if the washer is agitating. If it is not, the motor coupler is likely the cause. The part number for the coupler is 285753A and can be ordered from our website Sears Parts Direct .

To replace the coupler unplug the washer first. Then use the images below to access the coupler. Use a screwdriver to pry off the rest of the old coupler. Then tap the new coupler onto the shafts with a deep well socket and a hammer. The parts of the coupler should be flush with the end of the shafts. Then reassemble the washer in the reverse order.

I have also found a video that will give you more confidence in repairing the washer yourself. Please click here to watch the video .

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Q:

kenmore model 23832100 type 111 wont agitate

A:

Check to see if the basket will spin in the spin mode. If the motor runs in the spin mode but the basket won't move then it is likely that the motor coupler (part 285753A) is broken. Here is a link for a previous answer that describes how to replace that component: How to replace part #285753A for kenmore washer model #11020702990. . You can order that part from this page: Motor Coupler for Kenmore Washer Model 110.23832100 . Be sure that you unplug the washer before accessing internal components.

I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .
