Question and Answers

Q:

My Sears Dryer functions but does not produce heat. It is a Model 11098575120. What part do I need?

A:

The most likely reason a dryer stops heating is a tripped circuit breaker in the house. The dryer runs on 2 circuit breakers and if only one trips it will run fine but not heat.

If you don't find a tripped circuit breaker you will need to test the element, thermostats, thermal fuse, timer, and motor switch.

If you don't have a volt/ohm meter you can disconnect the power and take the back off the dryer. The element will be on the lower right side of the dryer from the rear. You can remove it from the heater box and visually inspect it. If it is bad you will see where it burned into.

You can make a jumper wire and jump the 2 wires together on the thermal fuse and the thermostats. One thermostat has 4 wires on it, don't bypass it.

If you can get or have a meter you can ohm these out and check for voltage from the timer and motor switch. If you need more information after these checks send another question.
