Question and Answers

My dryer will not dry 11097562602 Kenmore Residential dryer

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

When you said it will not dry, I assume it will start and run but not produce any heat.

There could be one of several component failures preventing the gas burner from ignition.

  1. Control board
  2. Thermal fuse
  3. High limit thermostat
  4. Flame sensor
  5. Solenoid valves
  6. Glow bar igniter
  7. Motor

The first thing to do is to remove the front lower access panel by removing the two screws near the bottom of the panel. After removing the screws, pull the toe panel down to clear the flange, then pull panel out.

Start the dryer and watch and wait to see if the glow bar igniter will glow or not. If it glows and then fades off without burner ignition, the two solenoid coils on the top of the gas valve will need to be replaced.

If the glow bar igniter is not glowing, the thermal fuse, hi-limit thermostat, flame sensor and the glow bar igniter will need to be disconnected and tested for continuity with an Ohm meter. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before disconnecting any components.

Whichever one component tests open/no continuity, replace that component.

I added a couple of images below with additional troubleshooting information and the wiring diagram.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services.
