Question and Answers

He4 gas dryer will not start.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If you have the tech sheet, it will have the troubleshooting guide to reference with test procedures.

Press the following button sequence: MORE TIME ? LESSTIME ? MORE TIME ? LESS TIME - all within 5 seconds and then opening the door should cause a beep tone and a number and letter to be indicated in the two-digit display. Closing the door firmly should cause a beep tone and the display to go blank or indicate "88". It may or may not display the letter but it should beep. If it does not beep, I suspect a faulty door switch. I recommend removing the top and disconnecting the door switch harness connection. Use an Ohm meter to check the door switch. Place the Ohm meter leads across the Blue and White wires and if the door switch is good, it should measure continuity. Make sure the door is shut before testing the door switch for continuity. If the door switch is Okay, the electronic control is likely faulty. If the motor relay does not close on the control board, the dryer is not going to start. When start is pressed and released, the voltage can be measured across P1-4 and P1-3 and then across P1-4 and P1-2. Both should measure 120 volts if the door switch and control board is Okay. You should hear the motor relay make faint click when start is pushed and you should hear a faint click when the door is opened if the motor is not starting and running. If you hear the faint click, the relay is energized but the relay contacts could be burnt and not completing the voltage supply to the motor. Also, if the belt is broken, the belt switch will open and break the voltage supply to the motor and it will not start.

NOTE: I do not recommend making any voltage measurements unless you have experience and feel safe and confident in doing so; otherwise I suggest calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your dryer.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
