Question and Answers

Q:

how to install my new dryer repair kit

A:

The dryer kit that you seem to be describing has the belt and drum rollers. It also has an idler pulley. The locations of the components inside the dryer are shown in the first image below. That illustration shows an electric dryer but the gas burner on your model of HE3 gas dryer will be in the same location. I provided information in the images below that show how to open the cabinet and remove the drum so that you can replace the belt, idler pulley and support rollers. This should help you install the repair kit.

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

If you do not feel confident installing this kit yourself, then you can have it installed by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Q:

How do I tighten the loose drum on my dryer?

A:

The drum is mounted between the front and rear bulkheads and it is supported by rollers (see parts image below). To determine the cause of your problem, you would need to unplug the dryer and remove the top panel and bottom service panel. Screws at the back of the top panel secure it to the dryer. Remove these screws and then pull the top panel slightly back and then up and off of the dryer. The procedure for removing the bottom front service panel is shown below in the second image. With these parts removed, you may be able to determine whether your have loose fasteners in the front or rear bulkhead. A failure of a support roller could also cause the drum to be loose. If you are not able to find the cause of the problem, I recommend calling a service technician to repair the dryer.
