Question and Answers

Q:

washer agitator not agitating!

A:

Hi Wallace,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

From your description you most likely need to replace the agitator dogs (part # 80040 ). Here is a video that demonstrates this procedure; Video . Always unplug or de-energize electrical equipment before removing covers or attempting service. Be careful and wear appropriate hand protection when working around sharp metal parts. The washer in this video may not look exactly like yours but the procedure is basically the same.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website; Sears Home Services .

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram or purchase any parts needed for your appliance; Sears Parts Direct .

I hope this is helpful. Check the things I have covered here and if I may be of further assistance please reply to this post.

Q:

Washing Machine making noise

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If the motor is sounding like its running normally and not starting and stopping rapidly then I would suspect an issue with the clutch, basket drive or a worn brake release lever on the basket drive. I recommend removing the gear case and inspect the clutch, basket drive and brake release lever. If the motor is starting and stopping rapidly then it may have a loose wiring connection at the motor or at the timer.

I added a YouTube video showing how to access and replace the clutch .
