Q:

how do i replace the lid switch on my kenmore washer model # 11092273100

A:

Thank you for your question.

I should be able to help you replace the lid switch on your washer. First, make sure to unplug the washer. Then follow the instructions in the image below. The instructions show how to open the console and remove the cabinet. After the switch is replaced, pay close attention to the reassembly notes. The front of the cabinet has to hook under the base of the cabinet.

I hope this is helpful. If you need further assistance, please reply below.

Q:

Water will not shut off and will not agitate

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The water should shut off once the water level pressure switch is satisfied. Also, the washer motor should not even attempt to start the agitation cycle until the water level pressure switch is satisfied. If the water will quit entering the washer when the timer knob is pushed in, the likely failure preventing the water from shutting off is a faulty water level pressure switch, or the small air hose connected between the water level pressure switch and air dome on the lower side of the tub has a pin hole/air leak or the nipple on the air dome where the air hose connects has a blockage.

Now, if the water does not stop entering when the washer is unplugged or when the timer knob is pushed in, the water inlet valve is stuck open and it will need to be replaced.

Again, if the water level pressure switch is not tripping to shut the water off, it will not begin agitation. You say the motor is humming when it should be agitating has me confused. If the motor is humming when it should begin agitating, it could have faulty timer or loose wire connection at the timer or motor. Will the motor run in order to drain and will the basket spin?

If the washer will drain but not spin, then it likely has a broken motor coupler.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Becky: If the water did not stop entering when you unplugged the washer and you had to shut the water supply off, the water inlet valve is stuck open and it will need to be replaced; but the washer still should have started agitating even if the water valve did stick open. Once the water level pressure switch is satisfied, it should have started agitating. Based on your symptom and details, it sounds like you have two failures, a faulty water level switch and a faulty water inlet valve.
