Question and Answers

Q:

Why does my Kenmore dryer model 11087562601 just click when I hit the start button?

A:

The F-01 fault code indicates a failed machine electronic control board. If you continue to get this code, you will need to unplug the dryer and replace the machine control board as described in the first image below.

Since the control seems to work and you hear a click, this indicates that the control may be working properly. There are 2 components in the drive motor circuit that could prevent the dryer from starting. You could have a broken drive belt. This would cause the belt switch to prevent the motor from running. A blown thermal fuse would also prevent the dryer from running. You can check for a broken belt by unplugging the dryer and taking the top panel off as shown in the first image. If the belt is broken, it will need to be replaced. I provided this procedure in the second image.

If the belt is okay, then you can check the thermal fuse (with the dryer unplugged). Remove the bottom service panel as shown in the second image. The third image shows the location of the thermal fuse on the blower housing. It will have light blue wires attached to it. Pull at least one wire and measure the resistance across the leads of the component with a volt/ohm meter. You should measure near zero ohms of resistance. If you measure infinite resistance, then the fuse is blown and will need to be replaced.

If you need parts, you can order them from the Sears PartsDirect website www.searspartsdirect.com . Here are the part numbers for the components mentioned above:

  • Machine control board - W10050520
  • Drive belt - 661570
  • Thermal fuse - 3392519
These tips should help you fix your dryer problems. If you need more help, resubmit your question with additional details.

Q:

why does my dryer 11087562601 beep once and clicks once when pressing start and wont function

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Based on your symptom it sounds like it may have a faulty thermal fuse. The thermal fuse can be disconnected and tested for continuity with and Ohm meter. The thermal fuse can be accessed from the front of the dryer by removing the lower access panel. I added a YouTube video showing how to test the thermal fuse. I added an image below showing how to access the thermal fuse. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before removing the lower access panel.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post. If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Q:

The integrated start button is depressed and will not release to it's normal position. Can I remove the front panel and repair?

A:

The button and spring is part of the User Interface/Console electronics board located directly behind the console. The button could possibly be released back to the out position but you will likely have to remove the control panel in order to work it out.

I added instructions in the image below. Remove the console and interface board and you may be able to pry the button back out. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before servicing your dryer.
