gas dryer 110.77902792

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears
I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is problems with the dryer.
Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Kenmore Dryer model number 110.77902792.

If the drum will not rotate but it heats up well then the centrifugal switch mechanism on the motor may just be clogged up heavily with lint and need some cleaning.

First thing for safety and concerns to keep dryer running well is to check the lint screen and vent of air flow going out of the house.   If clogged up it could cause heating problems on any dryer.
To prevent a Blocked Vent Hood, once a year:
1.  Clean any lint blockage from the exhaust vent hood.
2.  Make sure the vent hood flappers move freely.
3.  Check for screen/grate openings that allow bird or rodent nests.
4.  Replace exhaust vent hood if damaged.
5.  Check for good air flow while running the dryer.
Note: Poor airflow or decreased airflow indicates further vent system cleaning is needed.

After you check the lint, try this:

1.  Open the door and push in the door switch as it would connect if the door was closed.

2.  Turn the dial and to start.

3.  Turn the drum in the direction it is to travel by hand.

4.  Becareful and watch your knuckles in case it starts up.

5.  If it start then the odds are high you need a new motor.

Other items to check though is to see if the belt is broken or too loose.  Check also the door/lid switch.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter and I hope we can help you with your future questions and repairs.  Thank you for choosing Sears and using our

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

There could be one of many possible reasons why your gas dryer is not heating.

It could have one of the following component failures:

  • Faulty thermal fuse
  • Operating thermostat
  • Hi-limit thermostat
  • Flame sensor
  • Broken glow bar igniter
  • Faulty motor centrifugal switch
  • Timer

Remove the lower access panel and then start the dryer and watch to see if the glow bar igniter will glow or not. If it glows and then fades off without burner ignition, the two solenoid coils on the gas valve will need to be replaced. To remove the front lower access panel; there are two spring clips located above the access panel. Locate the spring clip and use a putty knife to to push inwards and pry up to release the two clips.

If the igniter is not glowing, I would first disconnect the thermal fuse and check it with an Ohm meter for continuity. The thermal fuse is located at the back of the dryer and is mounted on the blower wheel housing. The thermal fuse will have a solid red wire and red wire with a white stripe connected to it.

You will need to remove the vent hose and then remove all the screws securing the large back panel. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before removing the back panel.

Check the things I have covered here and if I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
