Question and Answers

Gas dryer Not drying clothing 11074852400

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If you find the glow bar igniter glowing and then fading off without burner ignition, the two solenoid coils mounted on top of the gas valve assembly will need to be replaced. You can order the solenoid kit at SearsPartsDirect.

In order to access and replace the two solenoid coils will require hinging the top open and then removing the front panel.

Before you can hinge the top up, remove the lint filter and the two screws under the lint filter. Once the top is hinged opened, disconnect the lid switch harness connector on the right side of the cabinet. Remove the screw at the top of each side panel securing the front panel to the side panels. Tilt the top of the front panel out and then lift the front panel up and off the two hanger clips.

Disconnect the power cord from the power source before servicing.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Why won't my Kenmore gas dryer model 11074852400 heat?

Make sure that the gas cut-off valve for the dryer is fully open and that the dryer has an adequate gas supply.

If the gas supply is okay, then I recommend checking the thermal fuse for the dryer. If blown, this fuse will prevent the dryer from heating. The following link of a previous answer describes how to check the thermal fuse and several other components in this type of dryer: Why won't my Whirlpool gas dryer heat?

Be sure to unplug the dryer and shut off the gas supply before accessing internal components.

The wire diagram and other details of your gas dryer are slightly different than the dryer described in the above link, but the checking of the thermal fuse and other components are the same.

These tips may help you resolve the heating problem in your dryer. If you need more help, resubmit your question with additional details.

11074852400 heats intermittenly -- thermosstat seems good i checked and clean air ducts --what is it doing this ?

Hi Andy,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

From your description I am not sure if the dryer will heat during the first part of the cycle and then stop heating or the dryer works for some cycles and not on others.

If the dryer works for the first part of the cycles, this type of problem is normally caused by weak gas valve coils (kit part 279834). The coils on the gas valve are strong enough to open the gas valves from a cold start during the initial lighting of the gas burner. On subsequent attempts when the gas valve coils are hot, they are not strong enough to open the gas valves to light the burner. If this sounds like the problem you are experiencing, I recommend that you replace the gas valve coils using the kit 279834. This kit has both coils and is cheaper than buying them separately. Here is a video that demonstrates replacing the gas valve coils on a dryer like yours; Video . Always unplug or de-energize electrical equipment before removing covers or attempting service. Be careful and wear appropriate hand protection when working around sharp metal parts. The dryer in this video may not look exactly like yours but the procedure is basically the same.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website; Sears Home Services .

Here is a link that you may use to purchase the gas valve coils for your Kenmore model number 110.74852400 dryer .

I hope this is helpful, and if I may be of further assistance please include more details in a reply to this post.
