Question and Answers

Q:

kenmore dryer 11072812100 will not get hot

A:

Sorry to hear that your dryer is not heating properly. Based on you symptom it sounds like you may have restricted venting system rather than a faulty thermostat. If the vent system is restricted with a partial blockage or crimp the burner flame will cycle off soon after it ignites and stay off until the high limit thermostat resets. For testing purposes only disconnect the vent hose from the back of the dryer and then dry one load. If it dries in the normal amount of time then this test would verify a vent restriction. If the dryer continues to take too long to dry then you will need to remove the small square plastic inspection cover located below the dryer door and start the dryer and watch for a red bright glow of the igniter. Monitor the burner operation for at least 5-10 minutes and you should find the burner igniting every time the igniter cycles on. If you ever find the igniter glowing red and then fading off without any burner ignition then the solenoid coils will need to be removed and replaced. The solenoid coils are located on top of the gas valve.

I added the instructions in the image below on how to access and replace the coils. Note: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before servicing your dryer.

The gas valve solenoid kit is part #279834 and can be ordered from Sears Parts Direct .

Q:

broken kenmore dryer: plastic divider partially detached from drum

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Do due the heat, duct tape would not likely work. You would be better off by removing the only screw left and removing the baffle. In order to access and remove the screw will require hinging the top open. You manually rotate the drum in a counter clockwise direction until the baffle/screw is at the top. I added a YouTube video showing how to hinge the top open . The first 40 seconds of the video will show you how to release and hinge the top open. The rest of the video is focusing on accessing and replacing the blower wheel which you will not need to do.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
