Question and Answers

Q:

I have a Kenmore dryer that runs , but not heating. Unit is disassembled and ready for diagnosis. I have a model 11070702990 gas dryer.

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Your dryer model does not have a thermocouple or a thermistor. See image below.

I must assume the glow bar ignitor is not glowing red. If it is/was glowing red before taking the dryer apart and then fading off without burner ignition; replace the solenoid coils (key #'s 13&14) mounted on top of the gas valve assembly. If the igniter was not glowing at all; follow the information below.

I added an image below of the wiring diagram and the location of the components. I traced the heating circuit in Red and Green. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before servicing your dryer. Red represents the voltage supply and Green represents the neutral circuit. I recommend disconnecting and testing the following components for continuity using the Ohm meter:

  • Hi-limit thermostat (key #34)
  • Operating thermostat (key #41)
  • Thermal fuse (key #39) *Test the thermal first.
  • Flame sensor (key #9)
  • Ignitor (key #4)

Whichever one tests open/no continuity; replace that component. I added a YouTube video showing how to test the thermal fuse .

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Mike: I'm glad you found the faulty component. The thermal fuse is part # 3392519 which can be ordered from Sears Parts Direct. Here is the URL address [Sears PartsDirect | http://www.searspartsdirect.com?sid=MMLxexpertxmerch]
