Q:

My Kenmore dryer model 11067422600 will not shut off at end of cycle. Ordered and installed new timer and will still not shut off. What next ?

A:

Since you replaced the timer and still have a problem with it advancing through the end of the cycle, you probably have a bad motor centrifugal switch. The wiring diagram for this dryer is shown in the first image below. This dryer uses a 240 volt timer. At the end of the cycle, the timer contact TM - OR is closed to complete the voltage path that is traced in orange on the wiring diagram for the L2 leg of power to the timer. When the drive motor shuts off, the contact in the motor centrifugal switch 2M to 1M should open so that the L2 voltage path to the timer is interrupted and the timer motor will stop running. See if the timer continues to run with the dryer door open. This would verify this type of motor switch failure. If the timer motor runs with that dryer door open then you will probably need to replace the drive motor. You can unplug the dryer and access the drive motor as shown in the second image. The third image shows how to check the resistance through the drive motor windings. You can use a similar procedure to check the resistance through the motor centrifugal switch. With the motor off, you should measure Ol (open load or infinite resistance) through the timer contacts 1M to 2M (1 to 2). If you measure near zero ohms of resistance (continuity) through those contacts with the drive motor off then you will need to replace that drive motor. You can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website.

If the timer motor does not advance with the dryer door open, you could have a problem with the push-to-start switch. With the dryer set in a cycle, see if the motor starts as soon as the door is closed without having to press the push-to-start switch. If it does, then the push-to-start switch will need to be replaced.

These tips should help you resolve this dryer problem. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details and we will try to help you further.
