Q:

Dryer model 11066912691, lent screen covered with grey fussy substance

A:

Thank you for your question.

I can understand your concern for the sound and then discovering the black/grey fuzz on the lint screen.

How long has it been since the interior cabinet of the dryer been cleaned?

Because of the age of the dryer the felt seals may need replacing.

The fuzz you are seeing could have came from a garment or from the drum seals on the dryer since you heard a whistle sound that would indicate an air leak.

I would suggest have a technician come out and check the dryer to make sure there are not safety issues.

You could look on the inside of the dryer at the outer edges of the drum to see if you can see if the drum seals are bad. Those seals are made of a grey felt material.

While it may be safe to use, the seals not being in place could cause a further service issue.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

I hope this will help.

Thank you for using Manage My Life.
