Question and Answers

Q:

How do I install part 3387134 dryer model 11062512101?

A:

The part number that you referred to is for the operating thermostat. Your details indicated that you needed to replace the heating element. You can access both of these components by unplugging the dryer and removing the back panel. The image below shows a page from the parts diagram for the dryer. The operating thermostat (part 3387134) is on the blower housing on the bottom left side of the dryer. It is Key 8 in the the image below. To replace this component, pull the wire connections off of the thermostat (with the dryer still unplugged) and remove the screw that secures it to the blower housing. Mount the new thermostat and connect the wires.

To replace the heating element, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure that the dryer is unplugged.
  2. Remove the high limit thermostat from the side of the heating element.
  3. Pull the wires off of the heating element.
  4. Remove the screws that secure the heating element to the heater box.
  5. Pull the heating element off and replace it with the new element.
  6. Connect the wires to the leads of the new heating element.
  7. Attach the high limit thermostat to the side of the heating element.
Reassemble and test the dryer.
