Question and Answers

Q:

Thermal Fuse failure. Model #11060832990 Electric dryer

A:

That thermal fuse part 3392519 is in the drive motor circuit. I assume that the drive motor quit running when that thermal fuse blew.

A clogged or restricted vent duct path to the outside of your home is the most common cause for a blown thermal fuse. If you have not checked that vent path, then I recommend that you examine that issue.

If that vent path is clear, then I recommend that you check the vent damper on for that duct system on the outside of your home. Make sure that the damper is opening properly.

There is a slight possibility that you received a bad thermal fuse since the dryer is working properly with that old one installed.

That component beside the thermal fuse is the operating thermostat. That component can cause the dryer to overheat. The red wires on that cycling thermostat are connected to the bi-metal thermostat portion of that component that cycles the heat on and off. The violet wires are connected to a heater on that thermostat that is used to "fool" the thermostat into cycling off the heat to maintain a lower temperature in the dryer for the delicate temperature setting. If that operating thermostat is not tripping to shut off the voltage supply to the heater in order to regulate the heat inside the dryer, then replacing that operating thermostat should fix your problem. I hope that this additional information helps. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details. Note: Be sure that you UNPLUG the dryer before accessing and replacing internal components.
