Question and Answers

Q:

what does code f-28 mean on an HE 2 Plus?

A:

The "F28" fault code implies the communication between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the Motor Control Unit (MCU) cannot be sent correctly. This could mean a faulty CCU, MCU, loose connection, broken wire or a faulty grounding switch. This specific fault code can be very difficult to diagnose. It will require extensive testing of voltages and connections in order to diagnose the cause. This type of symptom will most likely require a service technician with the experience, tools and knowledge to diagnose and repair your washer. NOTE: I you plan on attempting to diagnose and repair your washer, disconnect the power cord before removing the top and lower access panels. I added an image below showing component locations and how to remove the top and lower access panel.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Q:

F01 code on a Kenmore HE2 Plus Washer 3.6

A:

Hello,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

I am sorry you are having problems with your washer.

The F01 error is a communication error between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the EEPROM onboard the CCU.

Possible Causes/Procedure A power glitch may cause this error. Unplug washer or disconnect power for two minutes. Verify CCU operation by running a Diagnostic Test or any cycle.

Starting Service History Mode & Diagnostic Test: NOTE: The washer must be empty and the control must be in the OFF state before pressing the touch-pad sequence to start the test.

  1. Close the door.
  2. Select any one key (except STOP) and follow the steps below, using the same key (remember the key): Press/hold 4 seconds, Release for 4 seconds, Press/hold 4 seconds, Release for 4 seconds Press/hold 4 seconds.
  3. Upon release, all console LED lights will turn on for 5 seconds.
  4. If there are any failure codes, they will be displayed in the Estimated Time Remaining display.

NOTES: This program recalls the most recent failure code first. Press the same key to advance to the next failure code. (If the console doesn’t change, then the same failure code was stored multiple times.) If there aren’t any more failure codes all the lights on the console will turn on for 5 seconds. Next the washer begins the Diagnostic Test. To cancel out of service mode press STOP. (This exits you out of the program.)

If the F01 error code reoccurs you will need to replace the Central Control Unit (CCU).
