Question and Answers

Q:

drain pump clogged in kenmore washer model 11045986400

A:

Thank you for you question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the washer. I will be able to help you with cleaning the pump filter. First, unplug the washer from the wall then remove the front panel. The image below shows how to remove the panel. Once removed get some old towels to soak up the water that will come out. Then loosen the cap on the pump to allow the water to drain. If you need to swap out the towels before all of the water is drained, tighten the cap and replace the towels. Once all of the water is drained you can remove cap and filter. Then clean all of the debris from the filter and pump. If the inside of the filter housing is dirty use, paper towels to wipe it clean. After it is all cleaned reassemble the washer and check the operation.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Thank you for using Manage my life.

Q:

Washer door does not lock on a model 11045986400. Is this a major repair?

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If the washer will program and start and then display a door lock failure, replacing the door lock assembly will likely resolve the failure of not locking.

The part number of the door lock assembly is #8182634 which can be ordered from Sears PartsDirect .

I added an image below with the replacement procedure if you feel confident in replacing the door lock yourself. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before servicing your washer.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
