Question and Answers

Q:

won't start and i'm getting code F then DL

A:

Hi Tony,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

I understand how frustrating unknown error codes can be.

The FdL fault code indicates that you have a problem with the door lock assembly. A failed door lock often causes this but it can also be caused by a failed wiring harness connection or in some instances by a failed control board.

Check for damage to the door hook on the washer door and look for anything that could be clogging the catch on the door lock assembly on the front panel of the washer.

You will need to check the wire harness connections on the door lock assembly. The images below show the procedure for accessing the door lock assembly and top removal on this type of washer. Always unplug or de-energize electrical equipment before removing covers or attempting service. Be careful and wear appropriate hand protection when working around sharp metal parts.

I have seen this failure caused by a door lock and a faulty machine control board. A little trick I have found is to remove the top of the washer and push down lightly on the connector that is labeled dls5 this connector should have four black wires. This connector is located on the machine control board under the top. Use an insulated screwdriver to push on the connector and start a cycle. If the door locks, I recommend replacing the machine control. It has a bad solder joint on the board. We often see error code F11 also with bad solder joints on the control board. If pushing on the connector did not make a difference, I would suspect a faulty door lock first.

Q:

Ive got the dl error code showing and i cant reset it. Is there a way to reset it? I did it before and it worked but i cant remember how i did it

A:

Pressing the PAUSE/CANCEL button twice may clear the code but it will normally return when you attempt to start the washer unless the problem is fixed. There is a slight chance that you can clear the code and start the washer after unplugging it for 3 minutes and then plugging it back in. If not, then you will probably need to replace that door lock assembly. Check that component for damage. The images below show how to access that door latch assembly. Be sure that you unplug the washer before accessing internal components.

If the door latch assembly needs to be replaced, you can order a new one from the Sears PartsDirect website. The part number is 8182634.

This information may help you resolve this door lock problem in your washer. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

Q:

What is wrong with my Kenmore washer model 11045872400 when water only comes out of the detergent valve?

A:

The model number that you provided for this washer is for a front load model. On this type of washer, the water will all go through the detergent dispenser. The water level in this type of washer is low compared to top load washers.

I suspect that you submitted the wrong model number of your washer. If this is the case, recheck your model number and resubmit your question with the corrected model number for more help with this problem.
