Question and Answers

Q:

My Kenmore Model 11028822790 Washer overflows when filling.

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If the water will shut off when you push the timer knob in, then it could have a faulty water level pressure switch or the air hose connected between the water level pressure switch and the air dome on the lower side of the tub has come disconnected or has developed a hole.

If the water does not shut off when pushing the timer in, the water inlet valve is faulty and would need to be replaced.

You will need to place the control panel in the service position to access the water level pressure switch. In order to inspect the air hose, the washer cabinet will have to be taken off from the base.

NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before servicing your washer.

To place the control panel in the service position; remove the left and right hand end cap covers. Pull the top of the end cap covers up enough to clear the console and pivot the end cap cover towards the front and remove. Remove the screw located at the bottom of the left and right hand end caps. Slide the control panel towards the front of the washer 1/4" and then lift the control panel up and hinge it over the rear panel. Disconnect the lid switch harness connector from the top and pop the left and right cabinet clips off securing the cabinet to the rear panel. To pop the gold colored cabinet clips off; place the tip of a flat blade screwdriver in the first valley and they pry the handle towards the rear panel and it will pop loose. See image below for removing the cabinet.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
