Question and Answers

Q:

Random Temperature Control Issue on Kenmore 600 Top Load Washing Machine 11028622701 Kenmore Residential washer

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Based on your symptom and details, the ATC (Automatic Temperature Control) is likely out of calibration. The software in the ATC control is likely out of calibration which could trigger the automatic hose reversal feature at too low of a temperature which will cause the symptom you described.

The ATC (Automatic Temperature Control) is part # W10184148 for Kenmore washer model  110.28622701 which can be ordered from Searspartsdirect.com.

To access and replace the water temperature control switch (ATC), the control panel must be placed in the service position. To disengage the control panel from the top, slip a putty knife under the front of the left and right end cap caps and push inwards on the spring clips and pry upwards.  NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before servicing.

Once the clips have been released, slide the control panel forwards and lift it up and hinge it over the rear panel. Disconnect the wires from the old switch and transfer the wires to the new switch. To remove the old temperature switch, look for the plastic tab and pull up to unlock and rotate the switch body to remove the switch. I added an image below showing how to release the control panel and how to remove the temperature switch.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
