Q:

OASIS WASHER UNBALANCED LOAD 11027072602

A:

Check to see if the washer will spin with no clothes at all in the spin basket. If the washer still will not spin with the basket empty, I recommend that you check the suspension system as shown in the first image below. Unplug the washer before accessing internal components. If you find no problems with the suspension system, then you may need to remove the spin basket and check for an item between the spin basket and the plastic outer tub.

The link for a previous answer provided by Alina F. in the above response give you some additional information and troubleshooting for this problem. You may need to replace the control board in this washer to fix this problem. The third image below shows how to replace that component. Be sure that you unplug the washer before opening the console.

You can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website.

A bad bearing in the outer tub could also cause this unbalanced load problem. You may need to replace the outer tub in that situation. The plastic tub and spin basket parts are covered by a 10 year limited warranty. The part is covered but you would have to pay for a Sears Technician's labor to diagnose and repair the failure. The details of your warranty are provided in the owner's manual. Let us know if you need a copy of your owner's manual. We can usually provide that to you. NOTE: There have been some improvements made in the service procedure for that outer tub bearing since this answer was posted. The outer tub bearing is now available as a separate component. It can be replaced using special tools that the Sears Service technicians now have been issued. The outer tub that is under a limited parts warranty no longer needs to be replaced when that bearing goes bad in many situations. That bearing kit costs around $80. The labor for the technician would cost around $140 (at this time). That labor would have been charged for the replacement of the outer tub even when the part was covered. This repair may wind up costing about $80 more than it would have when that previous answer was written. If the technician examines that outer tub and the entire tub needs to be replaced instead of just the bearing, then the tub would still be covered by the limited parts warranty. You would still need to pay for the labor of diagnosis and replacement (about $140 at this time). The technician is required to examine the tub and determine the parts that are needed and whether they are covered by the warranty. To repair that likely bearing failure, I recommend that you schedule service by a Sears Technician. You can call 1-800-469-4663 or click on the link that I provided below this response to schedule service.

You can try replacing those suspension rods first if you suspect that they are causing your unbalanced problem. This has fixed that problem in some instances. It is difficult to determine whether those rods are bad. Since the lid lock was broken, you are more likely to have a suspension problem. If you replace those rods and still have problems then you may also need to replace that bearing. That bearing is a more common cause of the UL code.

The part number for the kit that has all 4 rods is W10189077. Here is a direct link for that part: Kenmore Oasis Washer 110.27072602 Suspension Rod Kit . Be sure that you unplug the washer before accessing internal components. I added a video below this response that shows how to install the suspension rods on that Oasis washer. If you need more help, let us know.

NOTE: The flat rate service labor fee of $140 that is described in the above thread is no longer available in most Sears Service areas at this time. There is now a trip fee that covers the initial examination and diagnosis of the appliance. The trip charge is normally between $65 and $95. You can visit this Sears Service website to determine the initial trip charge in your local area: Sears Home Services . Once the technician examines the appliance, he will provide you with an estimate for the repair that includes parts and labor (and the trip charge). If you decline the repair then you will need to pay for the trip charge.

Q:

Why does my Kenmore Elite Oasis HE Canyon Capicity washer twist the clothing during the spin cycle?

A:

Under certain conditions, a combination of wash load, the cycle selected and load movement can cause the load to become tangled, twisted or balled-up. Make sure that you are not overloading the cycle. Choose the proper cycle for the type of clothes that you are washing.

If your serial number is prior to CU24 (i.e. CU12253652 or CS2823532), then the wash plate impeller has been redesigned. The newly designed impeller will result in less tangling. If you have the old impeller and want to change it to the new one, you can order part number W10077050 from Sears PartsDirect ( www.searspartsdirect.com ). This would help minimize tangling.
