Question and Answers

Q:

my washer over fills with water.

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If the lid switch is broken then it will need to be replaced. If the water will shut off when you push the timer knob in then the likely failure causing the washer to overfill is a faulty water level pressure switch or the air hose has come disconnected or developed a hole. If you have to turn the cold and hot water faucets off in order to stop the water, replace the water inlet valve on the washer. The water inlet valve is the part that the cold and hot water fill hoses are connected to at the back of the washer. You will have to remove the washer cabinet to access and replace the water inlet valve.

You will need to place the control panel in the service position in order to access the lid switch and water level pressure switch. You will also need to remove the washer cabinet in order to inspect the full the length of the air hose. NOTE:Disconnect the power cord from the power source before servicing your washer.

I added a YouTube video showing all the different types and ways of releasing the control panel and removing the cabinet and I also added and image below showing how to remove the water level pressure switch.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services . Parts can be looked up and ordered from Sears PartsDirect

Q:

My kenmore 80 series washer is not spinning. #11026852501. I am trying to remove the cabinet to check the belt and other sources and cannot get it apart.

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

I added a YouTube video showing how to remove the cabinet and the procedure for replacing the motor coupler. Your washer does not have a belt; it is a direct drive washer which uses a motor coupler to connect the motor to the gear case.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
