Question and Answers

Q:

kenmore 70 series washing machine #11026722690. washed today everything worked fine began another load. it went half way thru rinse & stopped. didn't drain/spin

A:

Based on your symptom if the washer will continue to fill or agitate but does not operate at all during the drain and spin cycles the most likely failure is the lid switch. If the lid switch is faulty the washer will not operate in any of the drain and spin cycles. If the lid switch is okay you should hear a faint audible click of the lid switch making and breaking contact when you lift and lower the lid. If you do not hear the faint click then the lid switch is likely broken. Click on the link at the bottom of this answer for instructions how to remove the cabinet.

In order to access components under the top will require removing the washer cabinet. The top is not designed to come off for servicing.

Do I need to replace the lid switch if my washer will not drain or spin and how do I replace the lid switch?
