Question and Answers

Q:

Kenmore Washing Machine just hums but does nothing else (after testing and replacing lid switch)

A:

Hello Robert. I am sorry to hear about this problem that you are having with your Kenmore Washer.

The humming may be coming from the inlet water valves. Try moving the timer to the spin portion of the cycle to see if the motor will run and the basket will spin (with the lid closed). If it does, then I recommend that you make sure that the water supply faucets behind the washer are open. Those faucets may have been shut and not re-opened before testing the washer. This may help you fix that problem.

Since the washer worked properly when you jumped the lid switch, it is likely that the washer components are okay. If the above tips don't help, then you may have a loose wiring connection. Unplug the washer and check the wiring connections on all of the components.

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.
