Question and Answers

Q:

How do I replace the lid switch 3949238 on my washer 11024832200?

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the washer. I will be able to help you with replacing the lid switch. First, unplug the washer from the outlet. Then follow the instructions in the images below. When you are ready to remove the cabinet, have a protected surface to lay it on. Then you can replace the switch. After the lid switch is installed, make sure to hook the front of the cabinet under the front of the washer before tipping into position.

I have also found a video that will give you the confidence in doing the repair yourself. Please click here to watch the video.

Please let me know if you need further assistance on the repair of the washer.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired by a Sears technician. Here is a link that will provide the nearest drop-off locations: Sears Home Services .

Q:

I own a kenmore #11024832200 series 80 washer. It Will not spin.

A:

Hi Harry,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life. I know how frustrating it can be when appliances do not function properly.

You did not mention where the noise was coming from. I assume the motor will run but the washer will not spin unless you hand start it. This is most likely a bad clutch assembly. Here is a video that demonstrates gaining access to the clutch; Video .

If the noise you are hearing is coming from higher in the washer you may need to replace the drive block. Here is a video that will show you how to check the drive block .

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram and for parts purchases; Sears Parts Direct .

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Thanks again for using Manage My Life.

Harry, A small amount of oil is not cause for alarm, especially since there was not oil on the floor. You did not mention any wear of the clutch parts or if you checked the drive block. It is hard for me to tell you exactly what parts need to be replaced without knowing where the noise you are hearing is coming from or actually being there to see these parts myself. You have to determine the area the noise comes from and see the wear or damage. If the clutch seems to be in working order and the drive block does not show signs of wear, I recommend having a trained service technician evaluate this problem. Below is a link for the website. Harry, Remove the motor and see if the motor will run in agitate and spin. If the motor runs you will need to look at the clutch assembly again. Make sure the clutch spring is opposite the break cam. Check the things I have covered here, and if I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post. Thanks again for using Manage My Life. Landell

Q:

Kenmore washer model# 110-24832200 won't spin unless I manually rotate the tub clockwise.

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Based on your symptom and details I suspect a worn clutch or brake release lever. The clutch assembly with brake release is part #285785 which can be ordered from Sears PartsDirect .

I added a YouTube video with the procedure for replacing the clutch assembly and lever .

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
